The Joys of Easter Year-Round

The faithful of St. George, Utah and surrounding areas recently had the opportunity to reflect on the “Joys of Easter” during a retreat developed on this topic in English by Liz Dudas, a Glenmary associate and in Spanish by Fr. Marcos Ramos OP.  These events were part of the regional Catechist and Adult Formation Program created by St. George Parish, the Diocese of Salt Lake City and the Congar Institute.

255I was very happy to have participated in this experience. I discovered a community with a great desire to grow in their faith and with a strong sense of community. Their hospitality was exemplary. The participants were very welcoming and willing to be engaged in the sessions, as well as willing to reflect on the ideas presented in private conversations. It is obvious that there are a lot of good things going on in St. George Parish. There is a sense that there is real pastoral care for the Catholic population in a state where they are a minority religion.”

258Ms. Dudas commented on her participation: “Reflecting on ‘The Joys of Easter’ with the folks of St. George Church in St. George, UT, was a wonderful experience for me. Prior to my arrival, I had asked the local director to invite a few parishioners who would be willing to share a ‘story of faith’ at the beginning of each of my three presentations. Six volunteered, including two teenagers. Having them share their stories with people they did not necessarily know was a real gift to the participants. Many people remarked how they were touched and moved to tears by their stories of how God worked in their lives.” Many participants praised her presentation saying “It was FANTASTIC just the way it was, please return for more retreats!” “I thoroughly enjoyed the presentation, very insightful.  I thought it was wonderful that she had speakers from the audience.”
