What a great fundraiser the Friends of the Congar Institute in Salt Lake City organized this month! “Thanks” falls short of expressing our deep gratitude towards all those who have supported this worthy endeavor. But what is it that makes our friends support the mission of the Congar Institute? With Vatican II’s emphasis on the responsibility of all the baptized to share in the evangelizing mission of Christ, more lay leaders are recognizing a call to full-time ministry in the Catholic Church at the same time that the numbers of priests and religious are decreasing. With this vision in mind, nearly 130 lay Catholic ministry leaders in the Diocese of Salt Lake City are receiving an outstanding education right in their own diocese through programs designed specifically for their needs by the Congar Institute for Ministry Development.
The Salt Lake Diocese is so grateful to the Congar Institute that for the past three years our friends there have held an annual fundraiser to support our work there and elsewhere. The Gala Congar’s goal is to help us raise funds to support our efforts to provide excellent education/formation to lay leaders in under-served dioceses. For this we would like to extend our most sincere gratitude to all of those who, in one way or another, have supported this collaborative effort. THANK YOU!
