This past November the students of the Lay Ecclesial Ministry Formation Program in the Diocese of Salt Lake City had the opportunity to learn about Canon Law. Fr. Roger Keeler from the Archdiocese of San Antonio was their professor and presented the students with practical examples of Canon Law application. Susan Northway, the Diocesan Director of Religious Education commented on Fr. Keeler’s presentation: “It was outstanding and a model of flexible, creative teaching. Fr. Keeler used choice anecdotes and told interesting stories to illustrate points. He was full of energy and passion for the subject. He was kind to those who asked questions, and modeled an effective balance in using media to focus topics plus relying upon his impressive repertoire of examples and cases to keep people engaged. He was respectful, genuinely interested in the adult learners, and I believe he invested a lot into the day. What a gift to our LEM Program! I have been receiving positive [feedback] from enthusiastic program members.” At the Congar Institute we feel blessed to “build bridges” and make excellent formation as this available to lay leaders in underserved areas in our Church in the U.S.
