The first weekend of this past December 2014, St. George Parish in St. George, Utah, held its Advent retreat both in English and Spanish. The core theme of the retreat was: “A Spirituality of Awaiting Christ’s Coming.” The retreat allowed participants to reflect upon the fact that Jesus Christ came in history, still comes to us even now, and will come in the fullness of time and how all this impacts our ordinary lives.
Fr. Cristóbal Torres Iglesias, OP, led both retreats. Fr. Cristóbal is a University Chaplain at Barry University, in Miami Shores, Florida. Participants were very pleased with the retreat: “Very enlightening, Father Torres was able to … explain in detail about God’s love to us,” stated Mrs. Sandy Reynolds. Mr. Robert Catlin also commented that “Fr. Torres has a real talent to make difficult concepts understandable. Perhaps his creative powers as an artist enable him to bring concepts to life by making them visible.” As she reflected on the experience of this retreat, Anita Lahue exclaimed: “Excellent! Thought provoking, inspiring, best retreat I have ever been to.”
