We have begun the last week of ordinary time. This last week serves as a transition from ordinary time to Advent Season. During this week, the first reading for Mass is taken from the book of the prophet Daniel. These readings are full of visions and dreams that describe a profound transformation in the life and history of the peoples. These visions and dreams led many to rethink their lifestyle, to build up hope and to find meaning.
The celebration of the Eucharist during this time of Corona is also a reminder that, for the most part, our existence and our history is a constant transition. It is a time of transition in which we are invited to enter into God’s vision and dream for us. In any time of transition, when we participate in the celebration of the Eucharist, we pass over from darkness to life, from slavery to freedom, from death to life. For this reason, it is important to rediscover and to embrace what we see in the host and in the chalice when we hear the words "take this, all of you, and eat of it, for this is my Body, which will be given up for you… Take this, all of you, and drink from it, for this is the chalice of my Blood, the Blood of the new and eternal covenant, which will be poured out for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins. Do this in memory of me." Given this vision, what do we dream of?
