Pastoral Congress at the Salt Lake City Diocese

Due to the current COVID pandemic many organizations chose to cancel events and programs.  I am aware of several dioceses who were in this position.  However, the Diocese of Salt Lake City developed a creative alternative for their Congress.  I was invited as one of the two presenters, one Spanish speaking and one English speaking.  The presenters recorded their presentations on YouTube to be made available at a future date.  There were several advantages to this approach:

• Each parish had the freedom to gather parishioners when it was the best time for them
• This allowed for a greater participation than would have been possible with an on-site Congress
• Many people experienced the Congress for a first time
• It provided an opportunity for a religious education program during this pandemic for those feeling disconnected from the Church and parish.
